How are immigration policies impacting economic, security, and humanitarian policies?

Immigration policies not only improve a country’s gross domestic production, border control, and charitable efforts but also reduce the potential risk of threats from nefarious actors and illegally entrance of firearms, drugs, and undocumented migrants through U.S. Customs and Border Protection Act (19 C.F.R. 162.6). Specifically speaking:

All persons, baggage, and merchandise arriving in the Customs territory of the United States from places outside thereof are liable to inspection by a Customs and Border Patrol officer. Unless exempt by diplomatic status, all persons entering the United States, including U.S. citizens, are subject to examination and search by Customs and Border Patrol (U.S. C.B.P., 2017).

On the other hand, migrants pursue the right to freedom, justice, and prosperity for better living standards and contribute to a country’s labor force, entrepreneurial capacity, and diverse culture. For instance, the U.S./Mexico and Canada border may hinder economic growth by political interference more than potential threats from migrants seeking asylum, residency, and citizenship while deporting undocumented hard-working families, college students, and entrepreneurs were contributing to the U.S. economy.

Undoubtedly, deporting unruly individuals committing heinous acts while causing harm to others and society should be held to account and punished following the laws while protecting law-abiding migrants from irrational deportation acts. However, despite the COVID-19 pause impacting the U.S. economy, security, and humanitarian efforts, immigrant deportation contributed to the faltering gross domestic production in our country negatively. The ashes of the COVID meltdown give rise to golden opportunities for a new and better country vision and mission through improved governance.

In short, the country needs a resilient leadership to rethink the nation’s direction, restructured institutions, and reorganized U.S. immigration policies for a more integrated system while consistently communicating and coordinating common goals and moving forward in rebuilding a better, more vital America.
