Law enforcement leaders are continually faced with challenges protecting and serving the citizens of their communities. It is paramount that leaders strive to gain and maintain public trust in law enforcement agencies. Leaders must develop strong foundations by instilling ethics and integrity throughout their agencies to enhance public support for effective crime control and community policing.
For this Discussion, consider the elements of integrity and ethics in police leadership and the role they play in the development of a law enforcement agency.
Assignment:  a description of one element representative of integrity and ethics in police leadership. Explain the roles of integrity and ethics in the development of a law enforcement agency. Explain how integrity and ethics might be affected by the political climate or certain situations in law enforcement agencies. Finally, explain one way a leader might instill integrity and ethics as core values of a law enforcement agency.
