Each student will choose an individual from a list of prominent and lesser-known people of African, Asian, European, Latin or Native American descent. The time period for their selection is from the 1400s-1870s. They are to conduct research using verifiable primary and secondary sources.
A primary source provides direct or firsthand evidence about an event, object, person, or work of art. Primary sources include historical and legal documents, eyewitness accounts, results of experiments, statistical data, pieces of creative writing, audio and video recordings, speeches, and art objects.
¢ Secondary source include: Textbooks; journal articles; histories; criticisms; commentaries; encyclopedias. Examples of secondary sources include: A scholarly journal article about the history of cardiology. A book about the psychological effects of WWI.
