The natural nature of essential oils has boosted their popularity in many parts of the world. Most of the essential oils contain the hydrophobic components that are vital in treating various health conditions such as skin-related diseases. Other examples of essential oils such as Peppermint have been proved to have the ability to cure digestive challenges (Manion & Widder, 2017). The mechanism through which the essential oils work depends on their nature and the intentions of the users. For instance, the essential oils inhaled into the lungs work differently from those applied to the skin.
Besides, it is critical to note that most essential oils fall under the alternative forms of medication. Hence, the characteristic makes it challenging for healthcare providers to develop a conclusive procedure detailing the functionality of different classes of essential oils (Lu et al., 2020). The essential oils inhaled into the lungs travel into the brain cells (Manion & Widder, 2017). As a result, the essential oils in the brain trigger the amygdala, an emotional center of the brain, to produce a calming effect, thus reducing axiety, stress, or any other mental or emotional condition yield restlessness in the body. 
The uptake of some essential oils also boosts the immune system, thus improving the ability of the body to detect the foreign pathogen. Moreover, the essential oils that are applied directly to the skin make it possible to fight infection on the skin’s surface, thus suppress various skin illnesses such as rash, herpes, and others (Nieto, 2017). Finally, the natural oils work by triggering the brain to produce a stimulus that helps to interpret the immune response required to bring the body’s health condition back to normal. The use of essential oil is widespread among the nutritionist in the United States and other parts of the world.
