ashley: Obamacare is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Most people think it only affects health insurance, but it has changed the way the U.S. delivers health care overall. The term “Obamacare” was first coined by critics of the former president’s efforts to reform health care, but then, the name stuck.
Before the ACA, insurance companies could exclude people with preexisting conditions.1 As a result, the people with the greatest health expenses sometimes had to go without insurance or settle for a policy that did not cover a preexisting condition. Because they couldn’t afford regular doctor visits, they often ended up in hospital emergency rooms and unable to contribute to the expense of their treatments. (“What Is Obamacare?”, N.D)

There is a lot of different insurance out there it’s finding the right one to suit you. Having affordable health care is a task itself. Understanding the government is a hard thing to do but having insurance can be a benefit or a pain at the same time. I don’t have insurance at the moment but I’m applying for state help for my kids. a long road ahead.

Rodney: Government regulation and oversight influences health care products in numerous ways. Just to name a couple HIPPA and Chain of Custody are two of the biggest ones, HIPPA was enacted to make sure that peoples personal healthcare information doesn’t get misused by the wrong individuals. Before computers patient’s information were stored in safes now everything is pretty much stored online through a secure application. There are hefty fines if an organization is to be found not compliant with HIPPA guidelines and it’s possibility of that organization losing some much needed accreditations to stay up and running as a health care facility. When it comes to Chain of Custody it’s literally tracking the movement and the location of evidence i.e. samples of a drug test etc. Obamacare should not be repealed it should be expanded. In working in the health care insurance business I believe everyone should be covered Obamacare allowed for more Americans to be covered than ever before and that is never a bad thing. I do believe that the ACA does have some flaws that need to be and will be worked out. The ACA hasn’t effected anyone I know personally but I have heard some stories good and bad on the news and from third party individuals. Hope everyone has a great holiday break and stay safe!
